A headlight sits in the floor nozzle and throws a low beam across the path ahead. It shows fine dust, hair, and grit that ambient room light leaves invisible, particularly along baseboards and under furniture with a gap. On corded and cordless stick vacuums alike, the light runs whenever the vacuum runs, so no separate switch is needed.
The lamp is an LED set into the front edge of the motorized floor head, wired through the wand or the head itself. On cordless models it draws from the same battery pack that drives the brushroll, which slightly shortens runtime per charge. Corded versions take power from the cord, so the light has no effect on suction or runtime.
The beam only reaches the floor directly in front of the nozzle. It does not illuminate inside crevices, on stairs, or above floor level, so the handheld mode of a 6-in-1 stick vacuum gains nothing from it. On thick pile carpet the light tends to wash out against the fibers, and the contrast it provides on hard floor is much stronger.
Color options on these models include green, blue, and black housings. The LED itself is white on every sample, so the housing color is cosmetic and does not change the beam.
Yes, it draws from the same battery that powers the motor, so runtime per charge is slightly lower than an identical model without a light. The drain is small relative to the brushroll and main motor.
On the samples here the light is tied to the power switch, so it is on whenever the vacuum runs. There is no independent light control.
Less than on hard floor. Thick pile scatters the beam and washes out the contrast, while hard floor and low-pile surfaces show dust and hair clearly.
No. The LED is mounted in the floor nozzle, so it only lights the floor path in front of that head. Handheld attachments do not carry the light.
